Position: Managing Partner

Peter qualified as a barrister in 1971 and practised on the South Eastern Circuit handling a variety of civil and criminal work in the courts. He became a solicitor in 1977 specialising in criminal and civil litigation and has been a partner in James Reilly & Son Solicitors since then. His civil litigation practice is largely in the area of personal injuries*, in which he has extensive experience and expertise. He also has a large criminal law practice and conducts general defence work as well as prosecutions for Inland Fisheries Ireland. Peter also routinely acts in the areas of conveyancing, wills and probate and liquor licensing.

Since 2009 Peter has been a member of the Mental Health (Criminal Law) Legal Representative Panel established under the Criminal Law (Insanity) Act, 2006. In this capacity he regularly represents patients who have been detained in the Central Mental Hospital in proceedings before the Mental Health (Criminal Law) Review Board.

Peter has served as President of the Tipperary Solicitors’ Bar Association and continues to be a member. For many years he was a member of the Law Society’s criminal law committee and is a member of the Law Society’s panel of solicitors to assist other solicitors who are in difficulty.

Position: Partner

Sinéad joined James Reilly & Son in 1990 and is a Partner in the practice. She is experienced in all areas of general practice including District Court, Circuit Court and High Court work. She specialises in the areas of residential and commercial conveyancing, landlord and tenant law and Wills, probate and estate planning. She is a member of the Tipperary Solicitors’ Bar Association.

Position: Partner

James trained as a solicitor in one of the largest Dublin practices where he worked for 10 years before returning to Clonmel in 2014 to join James Reilly & Son Solicitors. He has broad experience in conveyancing and probate including in landlord and tenant law, commercial and residential conveyancing, property financing and leasing as well as advising on wills, probate and succession including taxation. He has acted for both the HSE and private developers in setting up numerous primary care centres throughout the country. James also carries out criminal defence work and advises on litigation (including personal injuries*, commercial disputes and contentious probate matters) as well as commercial law.

James holds a Diploma in Trusts and Estate Planning from the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. He is a member of the Tipperary Solicitors’ Bar Association and volunteers with the Free Legal Aid Centre in Clonmel.
